CODING

The coding staff at Beacon represents the cornerstone for our clients’ financial success and compliance. Beacon’s coding staff is CPC certified through the American Academy of Professional Coders. All of our coders are initially put through a rigorous in-house training program and remain on 100% audit until proficiency is demonstrated.

All training and continuing education is based on detailed policies and manuals developed by or under the supervision of Dr. Beck. Additionally, ongoing training is provided through bi-monthly educational meetings with Dr. Beck as well as continuing education opportunities through their professional organization. The staff is well informed and current regarding all updates and changes in the coding industry.

Coding consistency and quality is monitored through regular internal quarterly audits.  Our coding staff also provides ongoing feedback to the physicians to improve record documentation and maximize coding accuracy and reimbursement.

Beacon Medical Services uses the latest technology to capture patient encounter data to be used in the coding process.  We work with hospital IT departments to collect the following patient encounter and care data in an electronic format:

• All patient demographic information

• All insurance information

• Admitting, Consulting and Referring Physician Names

• All care provided to the patient as documented in the dictated reports
